‘Ello my babies!! (that’s me channeling Cat) Here we are, ready to go with the show! Cat looks lovely in a black and white floral pantsuit frock. Group dance! It’s set to “I Know You Want Me” by Pitbull. Pretty dang hot dance choreographed by Dmitri, Tabither and Napolean. (swoon)

Cat welcomes the jidges and Nigel takes a moment to recognize the celebrity deaths this week~ Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. He says quite a few wonderful things about them all. Aww…Nigel gave me goosebumps. They go into the break with a clip of ‘Thriller.’

Results time!
Vitolio & Asuka are first up and Cat lets them know they are in the bottom 3! Aww..I love Vitolio!
Brandon & Janette are next and are SAFE!!! Yay!
Evan & Butt-girl…er…Randi are SAFE!!!
Phillip & Jeanine are SAFE!!
Ade & Melissa are the last in this group and they are SAFE!!! YAY!!

After the break, we get more results. We find out Jonathan & Karla’s fates first. They are in the bottom 3!
Jason & Caitlin and Kupono & Kayla are next. J & C are in the bottom 3 and K & K are SAFE!!

The jidges give their opinions of the bottom 3 and The Rage Boys Crew come out to perform. Not sure where they are from but it’s a group of boys from teens to probably 7 or 8 years old doing a hip hop routine. They’re pretty good! But, why do so many of them have Corbin Bleu hair?? Cat acts a fool after they are done (she is SO over the top this year!) and we cut to break, again.

Time for solos! Asuka is first dancing to Don’t Trust Me by 3OH!3. I am not fond of the ballroom solos but this one is better than Max did last week. (and Cat called her Oscar, I swear!)

Vitolio’s solo is to Coldplay’s Viva La Vida and I loved it! There were leaps and abs and leaps! And abs!

Karla dances to 15 Step by Radiohead and it’s better than she’s done before, but I’m not feelin’ her. Oh, I think she almost fell over, too.

Jonathan dances to The Hunted by Kodo and it’s not as good as Vitolio AT ALL. He just likes to do gymnastics. I think I’m just not a Jonathan fan, but he’s cute as a button.

After commercials, it’s time for Caitlin’s solo to Que Sera Sera Jennifer Terran. It’s very pretty and much stronger than the other two girls tonight.

Jason is last to dance to New American Classic by Taking Back Sunday. I love it! It looked well-planned and not rushed or cram packed with stunts. He had better stay over Jonathan!

The Veronicas are up next to sing Take Me On The Floor. It’s not THAT bad, except they needed to turn up the dark-haired girl’s mic and turn the other mic down for the girl who kept singing, “Duh nuh duh duh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh.” I know nothing much about the girls but they look pretty skanky.

After seeing the jidges pretend to discuss the dancers by the stairs, we cut to commercials. I’ll take this moment to say that after watching the solos, I think Jonathan and Karla should go, tonight. OR, Jonathan and Asuka.

Nigel lets Caitlin know that she had the best solo and she is SAFE! He tells Karla she was a little desperate tonight in her solo and wasn’t very strong. Asuka is told that she is exciting and beautiful but she is not growing so she is leaving tonight. We watch her leaving montage and Asuka says what she will remember most will be working with Vitolio.

Nigel says they are not unanimous with their decision with the guys. Vitolio is told he sometimes holds back and doesn’t deliver to his fullest potential. Nigel says that Jonathan was not good last night but his solo had a lot of gymnastics. Nigel doesn’t believe he’s brought the dancing that is required for SYTYCD. Jason is told he looked desperate in his solo. (TOTALLY disagree!) Jason is SAFE!!
Nigel tells Jonathan and Vitolio are not strong enough but Vitolio gets to stay. Jonathan is going home. We see Jonathan’s going home montage.

At the end, Cat announces that on Monday night, FOX will rebroadcast the American Idol Top 13 Michael Jackson episode in memory of MJ himself. The first time in AI history that FOX has rebroadcast an episode. That is pretty cool.

I am not upset about Jonathan leaving. I just never really got into him. I think Karla probably should have gone over Asuka, but that’s how it goes. Someone has to go, right? OK, so what do you think about the results tonight? Leave your comments!

Until next week… ~Ang~

Kayla is beginning to separate herself from the pack. There still isn’t a clear leader among the guys. Evan, Kupono and Brandon are in the top tier, but no one has just seized the brass ring.

I did agree with the “jidges” choices. I really thought Asuka brought NOTHING to her solo. However, in her defense, I think ballroom dancers are generally at a huge disadvantage when they have to dance a solo. With the exception of the last minute tumbling run, Jonathan was uninspiring as well.

Great Job Angie, like always,,thanks for the time you put in this!

GAAAA! Asuka got dumped! I’M NEVER WATCHING THIS SHOW AGAIN!

Well, at least Melissa is still in……

I’m glad Jonathan left. All he really brought to the competition was a pretty face. As for Asuka, I disagree with the decision but also saw it coming. She grew immensely from week 1 to week 2, despite being in the bottom 3, and the judges praised her for it last week, so I think the growth comment was a bit off. For whatever reason, though, she’s not well liked among the voters.

I’m noticing more and more that the judges made a lot of mistakes picking the top 20 this year. So far I’ve agreed with their decisions in the top 20 itself (except Asuka tonight, but she would’ve been my next choice after Karla anyway), but they do not have enough diversity in the top 20. Last year I thought they were too obvious about pushing hip-hop, but this year it seems like EVERYONE they chose was a contemporary dancer! They have virtually no ballroom dancers, and a majority of the guys are absolutely incapable of partnering a girl. It’s especially painful to watch Phillip, as much as the fans adore him. I hate how easy the judges are on him just because he has a unique style.

Sad to see Asuka go. She was nice to watch. I have noticed that the guys are holding the girls back this season. The girls are just better dancers for the most part.

I’m glad to see Karla out from under Jonathan and paired with Vitolio.

Bring on next Wednesday. I can hardly wait!

  11. DrillerAA says:

No surprises this week. I think that the solos were the deciding factor and the two going home had the weakest solos.

  12. Roxanne says:

Great re-cap Angie…I didn’t enjoy this week’s dances as much as previous weeks. I thought Karla should have gone over Asuka. I was surprised…Nigel’s loved Asuka from the very beginning. I was sure it was Karla.

I was fine seeing Jason go. His solo this week and last week just showed he didn’t have the chops.

I SO love Melissa! Can’t wait to see her next week.
