Here is the Idol Radio Show hosted by Sir Darryl and Alan Attebery from last night.

Megan Corkrey finally, and thankfully, was sent packing. But The Idol Radio Show guys didn’t even talk about that because special guest, David Osmond, joined them for the full hour.

American Idol Season 8 Hollywood Round contestant David Osmond called into the show to talk about his time on the show. Alan puts David on the spot right away by asking him what he thought of Lady Ga(g) Ga(g)’s performance. David found her entertaining and cool, while Alan just found her a train wreck that you just couldn’t turn away from. David tells us what he really thinks of the judges (he likes them), how long it took American Idol to realize that they had a legitimate Osmond in the house, and whether he tried to utilize his famous last name when trying out. David talks about his two partners in the Group Round in Hollywood Week, leading Darryl to ask David if his fellow contestants gravitated to him just because of his name.

After the break, David introduces his new single, Last Day, which will be released on iTunes on April 14. David also talks about the impending birth of his first child, a daughter, prompting Alan to ask if it feels weird to say “daughter” since David grew up in a family with only brothers (7 brothers, in fact). David then goes into some more detail about what happened to his voice in Hollywood Week and what the judges said to him off-camera. Alan suggests to Darryl that they should petition the American Idol judges to use their Judges’ Save to bring David back to the show. Charlie Spillers joins the guys to ask David a question, but is put through the humiliation wringer when David asks to hear Charlie’s theme song.

The Idol Radio Show will be broadcast every Tuesday and Wednesday night at 11PM EST.

I was thinking the same thing about David. He really does have an interview style that makes you feel like you’ve interacted with him hundreds of times before. That’s why I will always remember this interview. I just hope that one day I have a reason to meet him so I can tell him that face to face.

Watching Lady Gag Gag’s performance made me want to bring back “The Gong Show” right then and there. I would have loved to see how Jamie Farr and the others handled ringing that gong! lol
Ah Alan, so old for such a young man…

I never imagined that I would end up asking David so few questions. He actually did a good job answering some of those questions on his own when answering other questions, which through me for a loop. Plus, I found it to be much easier to ask follow-up questions to what he talked about than I thought it would be, so I didn’t the back-up questions like I thought I would.
Except for those silences when you lost Doc at the beginning of the show, you kept the flow going VERY well, heeheehee.

    SHOW!

    EVER!

Thank you so much, though I’m sure you were referring to David Osmond and not Sir Darryl or myself. lol

Both Darryl and I had a lot of fun talking to David. He’s made it clear to us that he would like to do it again sometime, so maybe the next time he has something major happening in his life we can get him back on the show.

  7.
I just clicked on the radio show banner at the bottom of the blog and found the show on the archives. Alan, to think you were worried about filling in the time!!! David is very articulate on the radio – beautiful, clear speaking voice. He was great – maybe the very best radio guest you guys have had.
That’s the problem when you interview someone, especially someone who you’ve never talked to before. You don’t know what they are like in interviews and whether they will give three word answers or full, complete answers that can last two minutes or longer. With David, he gave such great answers that we really never had a chance to talk about anything other than “American Idol.”

Megan was never my favorite but I love the way she very politely got Simmon so pissed off. She was polite at telling him she didn’t care about his critique, but he was pissed to hear it and he showed it in his comment to her. Well, goodbye Megan I won’t miss you much but boy will I remember that moment.
I don’t get it. I thought and think he was responding to her It’s okay (I’m going home) not her earlier comment. You don’t care you are leaving? Neither dow e. Have a good last sing.Tata

The radio show isn’t working. After a few minutes “buffering”, I get an “error opening file” message. Is everyone getting the same message?

  16. angie says:

Sorry, I couldn’t stay around and listen live, Alan. It just didn’t work out. I hope it went well. I’ll be listening later after work.
