Since we can’t get our fill of American Idol tonight due to President Obama hogging the major networks once again, let’s take the time to discuss our leader and his appearance this evening. Anything from his speech excite or bore you? Leave your thoughts in a comment.

President Obama will call on Americans to look to the future with a “renewed confidence that a better day will come,” in his second prime time news conference tonight. Obama, seeking to rally support for his economic plan, will tell the country that his administration has put in place “a comprehensive strategy designed to attack this crisis on all fronts.”

Yes, it’s Superman: strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men.

Superman: who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands; and who, disguised as Clark Kent: mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a never ending battle for truth, justice and the American way.”
That’s so funny, Teri, because I can sing the Mr. Ed song and Felix the cat, among other things. I can quote Vitameatavegamin word for word, and I can spell oddball words like Czechoslovakia, Punxsutawney, etc. I thought it was just ME! Thanks for letting me know I’m not certifiable.
We tried no government for 24 of the last 28 years. (Clinton was basically a “Small gov guy” in his 2nd term) I don’t like where we have ended up, do you?

I wish things were different but in choice between giov or big business running the country (and those are the only 2 choices) I vote for government.

To think one in 50 children in this country’s homeless is frightening. We seem to be headed toward a third world nation with our infrastructure decaying bridges collapsing, less clean water, 40 mill Americans without health insurance. Unrest on our southern boarder, drug trafficking an epidemic. unemployment and violent crime skyrocketing. China’s yen worth more then US dollar. while insurance, bank and brokerage executive steal hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars under our nose with no regulations to stop them. THIS IS A JOB FOR SUPERMAN.

You mean to tell me Obama could not have waited until Thursday for this meaningless press conference. Or perhaps did it on Monday night instead. Postponing ‘Idol’ for what was an hour of redundancy is not an endearing action Mr. President.

You tink he has a teleprompter tonight? That means that all questions would have had to be precleared and even I don’t believe that.
Only for those opening remarks.
One of the few times he summoned raw emotion came after a reporter who demanded to know why it took him so long to express outrage over the AIG executive bonuses.
“It took a couple of days because I like to know what I’m talking about before I speak.”
    Wow.
I thought that was a good question if only because a lot of America wanted to know just that. I’m glad it was asked.

Maybe they were precleared, he could be Walter from the Jeff Dunham show.
And when you think of it they are alike in so many ways e.g. someone else is pulling the strings….

I loved seeing all those Bush mess-ups on Letterman. That was some funny stuff. “Great moments in Presidential History.”
Never misunderestimate Bush, during his state of the…. state.. whatever you call it speech to the nation he always reminded us about all the extremist groups of folks that were looking to bring the nation under attack (and so are we)!
He also gave us a very valueable lesson in the science of right and left
Obama is an eloquent speaker IF he has a teleprompter. Otherwise his speaking consists of ah ah ah and stuttering. I have seen this EVERY time he speaks without reading something that was prepared for him.
That’s funny, because as I watched his opening remarks, I thought exactly the opposite of what you said. I think he’s great at giving speeches by memory. He read a teleprompter tonight and sounded like he was struggling. Could be that the person running it wasn’t scrolling it at the right pace, but it didn’t come off so good in my opinion. His inauguration speech was great, and it was by memory.

he is a very good speaker. I think Clinton was as well. Bush on the other hand, well he wasn’t, we will leave it at that
I agree. I always liked listening to Clinton’s speeches. You’re probably not old enough to remember, but Reagan was great at ad-libbing. He was a funny guy.
