During Oprah’s venture backstage on American Idol Ryan said that the kids analyze the way he looks at them, because he (Ryan) knows the results before the show starts.
Now I am wondering if Ryan does in fact know the results before the show actually starts or does he get the information fed to him via his earpiece? Leave your vote in the poll below and any thoughts in a comment.

I think during the whole Chris Daughtry elimination, it definitely seemed like he knew ahead of time. I also think that Ryan was a little jealous of Chris’ awesomeness. Thats at least my theory for why Ryan was such a jerk to Chris in that elimination…

After Paula let the cat out of the bag last season, I would venture to say most everything is pretty well scripted before the show. But I do think Ryan does a good job at looking suprised.
I am not sure when exactly he gets the results but he definitely knows before he opens that envelope. If you remember an interview with Clay Aiken after Season 2 he said he was standing near Ryan during a commercial break. Ryan kept opening the envelope like he was practicing revealing the results. Clay only admitted that he could see that the name looked too long to be his name, so he went into the final results with a good idea that he hadn’t won. Maybe that is why he didn’t look too suprised. Can’t say that for about everyone else in America, me included.
