Update : The twist was correct. The judges can veto one time till the Top 5. No one will go home that week. Instead the following week 2 people will go home.

Numerous places are in fact reporting that the twist that will be announced tonight isn’t going to be as shocking or surprising as everyone thinks.

According to mjsbigblog.com in an interview today, Idol producer Ken Warwick says the “new rule” that will be introduced tonight came about to solve a “problem that’s been around since Season 1″, and they first tried out the rule during a season of French Idol.

The judges get a veto power, it means that they can save one contestant during the whole season.

It works the following way, after the contestant(s) was eliminated, the judges have a meeting and decide if he is worth saving or not. If they decide he deserved it they give him another chance and the following week they start the show with the same contestants.

This veto power is supposed to only be used once during the season in case the judges feel America got it completely wrong. So if this is the twist what do you think? Will it work? Is it as shocking as we were afraid it would be? Leave your thoughts in a comment.

What about the saying..”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. This is the number one show in America, It was working, what are they thinking by changing everything. New judge, new rules, new elimination tactics… I just think it will not be long until they totally ruin all the contestants fan base. No one is going to really care who wins.. Tell this new producer to get lost..

they aren’t. They are at 9[/quote]
Maaaaan… why? That’s ridiculous…. most people don’t even want to stay up that late. Looks like I’m most likely stuck watching it by myself tonight

I don’t care what the twist is…just show me the money! Er…the singing!

This is “Tee” totally wrong. If a Contestant gets more votes by America then another, “CASE CLOSED” ! They should not be obligated to face them again, this show is becoming more and more “arbitrary” by the day. Lets play the Superbowl and the World series over because we thought the other team should have won. How ridiculously absurd ! How much more torment can they figure out to put these kids through? What a bunch of horse fodder.

My stupid first comment didn’t post for whatever reason… but basically what I said was that this is our show and we should ultimately pick who goes home, not the judges, because they are just 4 people. We don’t want to watch a competition of “Simon’s favorites”, we want OUR favorites. Thats like them deciding who’s gonna be in the finale, kind of.

  8. randomx6 says:

If that is it, it isn’t as much of a twist as a fourth judge.

It is actually reasonable and I think they already did it in Season 6 when Jordin was not eliminated during Idol Gives Back

  9. Justin says:

And if Simon says we probably won’t like it, then, um………………………………………………….why the heck is it being done in the first place? This is our show!!!!!!!! Not Simons. Oh and not Paula’s either you know she is all goo goo over the boys, so it’d be a shame to watch her keep in her favorites rather than someone who deserves it

  10. Justin says:

“Shocking” eliminations “rear its head every season”, so this has to be it.

But I personally just keeping it real.. I think the judges need to back off.
This is a show where we the public vote and get our say, they are just 4 people… who is eliminated out of our bottom 3 should not be their decision, it should be ours. They may have favorites, but this is a show where we are supposed to enjoy things, not just having them pick and choose. That’s like deciding who’s going to get in the finals… Not cool….

  11. Joyce says:

    Yep, that’s “THE” twist.

  12. DrillerAA says:

If it is only one veto per season, then I highly doubt they will use it this early in the season. The most controversy typically happens around the final 6,7, or 8. So look for it to happen in about a month. It would have saved Michael Johns for sure.

“It works the following way, after the contestant(s) was eliminated, the judges have a meeting and decide if he is worth saving or not. If they decide he deserved it they give him another chance and the following week they start the show with the same contestants.”

At this rate, won’t it extend the length of time that American Idol will be on ?

  14. rachel says:

Shucks. I was hoping it was that they were going to limit the amount of times one can vote starting NOW ! :w00t:

  15. Lee says:

If this is so and the Judges are given the power of Veto. Then it is only fair to extend the democratic process and the contestants should be able to impeach the judges  :silly: :sideways:

  16. TLR says:

In season one, Simon would have saved Ryan Starr, he  her
