Numerous places are reporting that there could be a possible twist tonight which stems back to an interview Executive Producer Mike Darnell gave back in January where he stated there would be a twist when we reach the Top 12.
So if there is a twist, will it be tonight and what could it be? Everything from a Top 13 or even a 9th person singing tonight (Felicia Barton who was already brought back once) have been discussed across the internet over the past couple of days.
Personally I am thinking it will be a Top 13. There are 4 judges, each judge will get to pick one person to go on tonight meaning we will get a Top 13.

I absolutely love the idea of the bottom two or three contestants singing for their lives each week and the judges voting on who stays. That is the way they do it on the UK X Factor, and it works brilliantly!
Maybe the top nine get to vote.

Pre-announcing the twist will not make it a twist anymore.
Top 13 is very possible.
I’m from Australia and in our third Season of Australian Idol we had a Top 13 simply because one contestant (Roxane) missed out with the public vote and the judges felt she still deserved a chance; so they put her in. However, next week 2 contestants were given the boot making it a Top 11, then it was one boot a week and back to normal.
I think they should do this :cheerful:

If their is I guess its to shock and awe us or either keep us in suspense. They may be more hard up for ratings then I thought. If so, hopefully it will be fun.

Each week they will eliminate two contestants and bring one back from the wild card pool.
There will be a top thirteen and it will be Sanjaya.
They should have five wildcards and start out at 14, and then just eliminate two people per week until they get to the top 10 (that would allow the scheduling to catch up to where it would be if we started with 12 and got rid of one a week to get to a top 10).
That would be a great twist, and more deserving people could get through.

Love it. my favorite
1 – He meant it literally – one of the nights will be “Do the Twist” night.

3 – Stripper pole/Drag queen night!
4 – It will be mandatory that each contestant will have to sing Gregorian Chants once instead of the regular theme, but they get to pick the week.
Too many possibilities to imagine but my faves are:
1 – 13 finalists ( a tiny twist, which they would brutally overhype)
2 – The 3 number 3′s are thrown back in the pool and have to sing for their lives!
3 – 8 men and 4 women get through but the producers announce there must be balance so the 8 men have to SING FOR THEIR LIVES or the judges arbitrarily knock 2 out.
4. All of the top 12 get to tour.
I think it is very possible there will be a Top 13. Who knows. I will not be surprised no matter what happens.
Sigh, give me second, my head is still spinning.
I’ll go with the idea of 13 since there are 4 judges. I guess.
