Nick Mitchell From Group 2 Performances

I am sorry to say this was absolutely the best. While Nick may not be the best singer in the pack, he is by far the most entertaining. Personally I hope he makes the Top 12.

Awww that’s to bad you are not invested in anybody. Maybe you will you never know. It’s still early. :)
Don’t get me wrong, I love Danny Gokey a LOT. And it’s not that I won’t be invested in the show, because goodness knows I WILL be. I don’t really know how to explain it, but this might end up being one of my favorite seasons for the ‘laid back’ factor for ME.

Well he isn’t gonna win american idol if that is what you are worried about. This is good exposure for him. I bet he will get a job after this. :)
I hope he DOES get something out of this. But I was/am not worried about him winning. Even if he did, that’s OK. My favorites don’t always win. I still love the show and will always watch no matter who is in the Top 36/24/12 etc.

I totally agree, Angie. This year is EH so far. I like Danny Gokey so far the best. But it would be nice to just enjoy the show and not really care a heck of a lot who wins. And I would love a year that I don’t have to vote. This just might be it.

  7. Marilyn says:

I think he is by far the most entertaining of the whole 36. He has a hell of a voice too. Even if he doesn’t make it, he’ll be on Broadway next year.

  8. rachel says:

Regardless of whether he makes it through or not , we have not heard the last of him. Wait and see. :silly:

I wonder if it would’ve been better for Nick to do a relatively normal song – just to show everyone that he really does have talent — If you ignore the comedy routine, I could see that he’s got a great voice and would clearly have been the best male vocalist behind Adam Lambert – but all anyone will remember was the craziness. Everyone knows about “Norman Gentle” – so in a way, his performace was too safe – he didn’t take any risks (for him).

But the thing I love about him is that he makes a mockery of what AI and much of pop music today has become — seems like EVERYBODY feels they need to put all these loop-de-loops and vocal gyrations into every note – and they rush through the slow-soft-subtle sections so they can get to those loud Golden Notes that will get all the judges drooling. And Simon takes himself way too seriously — wouldn’t it be great to see Simon have to deal with him every week?

These performers are focusing too much on “impressing” me with their “superior talent”, and in some cases, they have indeed been impressive. But I’m looking for the ones who will “connect” — make me cry, make me smile, inspire me, move me, or make me laugh — that’s what music is supposed to be about. Nick did not impress me as much as a few others did (Adam Lambert was dynamite) – but he did make me laugh – I was loving every minute of it.

  10. Jennifer says:

Yes, Nick is funny and deserves something out of being on American Idol, but he doesn’t need to be on the Top 12. I have to agree with Angie. I don’t think it would be fair if he made it through while some one else who gave it their all doesn’t make it. There is a lot of good talent out there and for those to be missed just because Nick who in my book cannot sing makes it through is wrong. I think his time has come and needs to go back home. He is quite annoying.
Slim I totally see where your coming from. This guy has taken outrageous to a new level and having a blast while he is at it. He has made a mockery of the show and America thinks its hilarious. I really hate to see him go because he is fun to watch, and after tonight he may have even swayed more votes his way. Here is the dilemma, some [like me] want the best singer to win, others want to be entertained. Personally I want to see a good singer on the twelfth spot rather then Norman because as funny as he is he wont sell CDs.
I like being entertained with good singing when I watch American Idol. Nick just annoys me and sounds like Jerry Lewis sings Dreamgirls. Ick.

Ridiculous.

I don’t care if I am the most grumpy of them all this year. I can’t stand this guy and you can’t make me!
Hello Ms Grumpy. :) Oh come on! :) He is entertaining! He should be on SNL or have his own show. You are telling me you won’t watch him on SNL or on his own show? :)
That’s what I tellin’ ya. I just find him annoying. Also, I feel for the people who were truly good talent who were booted from the show and he got to go on. He isn’t taking it seriously and some to most of the others are putting their all into this, even if they don’t make it any further.

More power to Nick if he gets some kind of comedy gig out of this. I am all for the Idol contestants finding success. I just don’t think he has a place on Idol.

  13. Feeza says:

I’m in agreement with Lee here.. Normund really does make me laugh…(he’s less annoying than Tatiana to me) …he’d definitely make the show fun to watch but unfortunatel, I too would rather see a good singer be on the Top12 than Normund….

  14. Dr. Electro says:

I personally find him totally annoying. Yes, he made me chuckle a couple of times. But seriously, this guy is a lounge act! He does not belong here with the real talent. I would seriously think that Vegas would be the place for his over the top “showmanship” but not on AI. Please. VFTW has enough to go on without Nick.

  17. Joyce says:

If this were America’s Got Talent, then maybe he’d have a place. I do see the humor (annoying humor imo, but whatever). To put him through makes a mockery of this show. He can’t sing. Amen.

  18. Beth says:

he needs to take over Ryan Seacrest’s job…seriously

    love him

  19. He made me laugh. He makes me laugh every time I see him. I don’t know that this is the right place for him; but the judges did this so now they have to live with the fallout.
