Yeah. I know but you still like to think they are going by some sort of right and wrong guide and such a blatant move that is so wrong is very disappointing. So much for the rose-colored glasses, even they are not helping to see past the biased unfair money will do what it wants too.

Exactly. This is so obvious even to us riffraff out here in know-nothing land. They must be using a different dictionary to spell “fair” out there in Hollywood.
It could be that Michael has become a favorite and that Matt has become voting fodder. While Matt has a good voice and a good human interest story, Michael has a similar story and a better voice. And yes, TPTB don’t want to jeapordize their top three picks in round one. Even if Michael is eliminated in the first round, you might see him again as a wild card if TPTB determine that he is marketable and helps the ratings.
