Blogged Live Via the East Coast Feed

American Idol is complete and tonight the dancing begins and I can hardly wait. In a lot of ways this show is so much better than American Idol.

Before we start the real dancing competition we must first sit through the auditions. A regular thing for FOX. Draw out the season with a couple of weeks of dreadful episodes then the fun begins. I will be here through it all, so sit back, relax and enjoy. This is SYTYCD.

Note : Show was blogged live via the East Coast Feed. Since it is auditions I am not sure what all you will get in the post but there will be some sort of recap and of course some of the audition videos later on tomorrow. Everything is after the jump.

We start the show with Kat giving us a recap of the previous season winners. After that we get a quick review of what is in store for us this season. Looks like some hotties in there. We all love the hotties.

Day 1 Auditions

We kick off the auditions in Los Angeles. First up is Devin who was cued the wrong music. Once the mistake was taken care of it was a nice audition. Nothing super special but decent. Nigel loved it. So did Mia and Mary. Ticket to Vegas issued.



Johnathon is next and he is the Casanova in love with Kat. Definitely a male in touch with his feminine side. Hated the audition but I bet he is through. Mia doesn’t think he will be successful in the US. Mary agrees but gives him a yes along with Nigel. Another person off to the choreography round.


Next up is Sex. I am pretty sure he won’t make it again this year even though this is he 3rd attempt. Doesn’t this guy get it? He can’t dance. His audition was nothing short of a joke. A total waste of time. Mia said there is no growth since his last attempt and it was a no. Mary thinks it is really a joke, there is no dancing up there. Nigel thinks he just enjoys wathing himself look stupid on TV and he will no longer call him Sex since there is nothing sexy about him.


Laura is up next and the sob stories begin. She is pretty much blind. I feel bad but don’t use your handicap to try and get a spot on the show. Nigel thinks she is inspirational to a lot of people but the technique is not strong enough. Mary agrees with Nigel on the technique and wonders how she would follow choreography. Mia cries like a baby. No ticket to Vegas.


Twitch is back and Nigel told him if he doesn’t make it through to Vegas he will kick his ass. A great audition. Should be through of course. Judges what ya think. Mary of course is happy he is back. Mia gives him stank face because its so good. Nigel thinks he is magic and gives him the ticket to Vegas.


Philip a trick artist comes in and he does have some tricks. Very unique and interesting. A definite must for Vegas. Nigel finds it absolutely incredible to watch, an absolute sensation to watch. Mary remembers him from last season which has to be a good thing. Mia thought it was brilliant and the best she has ever seen in the genre. Off to choreography round.


William, a gypsy, is here because he is looking for something different. He has the technique but it just bores me. Nigel thought it was clever and cool but doesn’t think it was the right audition for this program. To much clever stuff there however he thought it was really good. Mary thought it was just to short. She wanted it to go on and on. Mia thought it was beautiful but agrees with Nigel. Off to choreography round.


Rijiy was the final contestant of Day 1 and decided to dance in his underwear, well till that almost came off too. Problem is he has some technique and could make it. Judges. Mary couldn’t stop laughing. Nigel couldn’t concentrate since he was half nude and Mia thought there were others ways to allow the judges to see a clean slate. Bye bye, go on home.

Choreography Round : Johnathon was sent home. Philip and William get tickets to Vegas along with 16 other dancers from Day 1.

Day 2 Auditions

Day 2 begins with Erika back for her 3rd try. Yeah finally a hottie. She gets a ticket in my book. Mia thinks there are a lot of qualities that are wonderful but remembered last year she was all over the place but was lovely this year. Mary loved the performance today. It blew her away. Nigel thinks she is beautiful and a wonderful dancer and sends her to Vegas.


Ballroom couple Leonidas and Aliona were damn good. They should both make it but you know the judges, one of them will end up going home. Nigel thought they were both terrific. Very exciting. Mary welcomed them to the competition. Mia thought it was a pleasure and told them they have class dancing together. Off to Vegas for both of them.



Victor had some moves. Actually a lot of them. The judges were very entertained. Nigel thought the steps were unique. Mary of course was Mary and loved it. Mia thinks Victor is a goof ball and thought the performance was great. Not off to Vegas yet but off to choreography.



Golden Inferno gave is some laughs but that was about it. And no angie that is not me under that mask. I couldn’t get on stage and make an ass out of myself. No ticket or choreography chance extended. Cue the sad music, bye bye.



Ricky and Asuka are partners and actually pretty decent. I don’t see either making it to far but they should make Vegas at least. Nigel was delighted with the performance. Mary thought they showed a connection and thought it was a good job. Mia though Asuka was fluid and also thought the connection was there. Off to choreography.


Kherington, another hottie, is amazing. Not to mention again that she is a hottie. Bet the guys would like to roll around on stage with her. Nigel thinks her face is beautiful and very emotional when she dances, not to mention she danced real well. Mary thinks she has beautiful lines and is joyful to watch. Mary thinks her face has the “it” factor. Off to Vegas.


Robert a popper is the final audition from Day 2 and he was truly something to watch. I would have to say the best of the show tonight. Loved it. The judges were stunned. Nigel branded him his official favorite dancer of 2008. He is not sure though how he will do with choreography though. When it was all said and done Nigel gave him a ticket to Vegas. No choreography round needed.

In total 30 dancers from Los Angeles made it to Vegas. Tune in again next week when we see some more of the good, the bad and the ugly. Leave your thoughts in a comment.
