Results Blogged Live Via the East Coast Feed

After another week of Beatles songs it is time to send someone to LAX and back to their hometown. Who will it be? I have a feeling it will be Kristy even though I would love for her to stick around another couple of weeks. If it isn’t Kristy though it will be Amanda or Ramielle.

Anyways it doesn’t matter what we think. All that matters is what Ryan says. Ladies and Gents, sit back and relax. This is American Idol.

Feel free to leave your thoughts about the results show in a comment or chat live with us in the shoutbox on the sidebar. We always value your thoughts and opinions.

Slim Wants To Go : Amanda Overmyer
Slim Thinks Will Go : Amanda Overmyer or Kristy Lee Cook

Note : The results were blogged live via the East Coast Feed by angie. Everything is after the jump.

Eliminated Idol: Amanda Overmyer

Well, hey guys! We survived yet another Beatles week. I don’t know about you but it about put me to sleep. *yawn* Anyway, let’s get on with the results show!

Mentors for the season, as announced by Ryan, are: Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey (did Ryan call her an actress??), Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Neil Diamond.

Time for the group song, kids! Archie sounded good, though breathy. David C and Jason trying to harmonize, not so good. Michael sounded yummiful. Brooke and Ramiele sing and I am pretty sure Ramiele’s mic wasn’t even on. Kristy was bopping around too much for such a slow song. Did anyone else notice Amanda holding up her mic but not singing during the all girl part? That was a little less painful than last week, overall. But, you all know me. I tend to think the group songs are a little too theme-parky.

The votes are in and the lights go down.
Brooke is safe (and I like her straight hair).
Carly is the first in the bottom 3!
Archie is safe.
Michael is safe! (woo hoo!)

This week, we get to go behind the scenes at the Ford ‘video’ shoot. I still call it a commercial. Whatever. The song is “Should I Stay or Should I Go.” The Idols are in a 50s UFO movie. Cute.

The lights go down, again.
David C is safe.
Kristy is in the bottom 3.
Jason is safe! YEE HA!
Ramiele is safe.

Again, we are tortured with calls from fans. Then a Kellie Pickler montage topped with a Kellie Pickler performance. I shall refrain from commenting.

We see Elliott and Fantasia visiting those who benefit from Idol Gives Back. A very nice clip.

The lights go down yet again.
Syesha is safe.
Chikeze is safe.
Amanda is the last in the bottom 3.
Carly is safe.

Amanda goes home to be ‘celebrated home.’ Or is she going back to the USSR? Well, MY heart’s not broken. Slowly, but surely, we’re whittling them down to the best of the rest. I hope Kristy goes next. What do YOU guys think? Leave your comments and let us know.

See ya next week! This is Angie and I am out…

KymK, that was the best tasting, I mean, sounding apology I’ve heard in awhile! Quick, insult me so you can give another yummy apology! :em47:

Hey, so sorry – I was a bit strident and I didn’t mean to be. We obviously are not going to agree, but truth be told, I think it was because I had a highly emotional reaction to David’s “Long and Winding”. Before last Tuesday, I thought he was a great talent, adorable with a admirable personality. But when he started singing I literally couldn’t breathe. He took me right back to a night when I was 13 and listened to that song over and over and over, crying with my girlfriends over difficult lives, unrequited love (pretty intense at 13!) and world problems. Since that day (at 13) I have always felt the poignancy of that moment when I heard this song. Tuesday, I was swept away and the ache was gone! Wow! I know it sounds dramatic, but it’s true. Anyone who can do that through their music will make me forever and always a fan!

But, that doesn’t mean other people’s reactions aren’t valid as well! I SHOULD have just said:
“Vanilla!? More like White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle with Pistachios and Toasted Coconut”

Of the three seasons we have watched, this has got to be the least talented group of schmucks ever. Even the highly talented David A has not yet learned how to interpret a song and make it any flavor other than vanilla. Where are the Mandisas, the Melindas, the Eliots and Taylors. These were performers who had pipes and and expressive talents. Even Taylor who does not have the best pipes in AI history is a consummate performer. This season gets the 3 Bs awards: Boring, Bombing and Beastly. I wish I wasn’t so addicted to AI. Consolation: at least the Flamboyants are gone.
I actually like this year better than the others. And I think David A. probably has the nicest voice of ANY season.
I never cared for Elliot, Taylor, Mandisa or Melinda. Everyone’s taste is different.
And I prefer to vote for the best SINGER, and not the best performer.
    My opinion, of course !
IMHO – the best ‘singer’ is clearly Carly. The best performer – so far – is David Cook. Most likely to finish 3rd is Archie in the “gee you sing well but you finally bored the tweens who have very short attention spans” (mine is already bored with him and has moved on to Jason)They will leave him because he has NO performance skills. Most likely to have a career – David Cook or Brooke.

All in all I agree with Berto – this is a bad year. I want Amanda and Danny back – at least they were entertaining.
Berto and Random:

Don’t tell me, let me guess. You’re 20 – 30 somethings who think that you are the only ones entitled to know and appreciate music. Just checking and if I’m wrong, that’s OK! But last time I looked David A had the following fan base:

    1. Yes, tweens, but extend that age range up to about 24 or 25. And they are giddy over his performances.

    2. Yes, grandmas. But FYI I am not a grandma but old enough to be one and I happen to buy and listen to alot of music. I’m getting just a little tired of being dismissed as someone who doesn’t count as a music buyer or lover. I have a lot more money than younger folks and I buy alot of presents!!

    3. Anyone who has not had their musical appreciation destroyed by a lot of yelling that so commonly passes for singing.

    4. Males with enough self-confidence to admit they really like a 17 year old young man singing sensitive songs.

    5. Majority of hispanics, majority of Utahn’s, majority of mormons and others who see a genuinely humble, good, and innocent young man as something to admire, not to feel threatened by.

    6. Simon Cowell, who has never clapped for anybody ever in my memory (but don’t forget, I’m old! Correct me if I’m wrong!)

Nice try, but to call DA a ‘vanilla’ performer makes me laugh! Hmm, just checking as I said, but I think you’re really in the minority here.
Berto here: I am not a 30 something… oh to be there again! Left the 30′s and the 40′s in the dust. No, I am merely a musician/slash vocalist who has an ear for quality. Note that I did not critique David A’s tone. He rarely misses a note, and his tone is indeed pure and pleasant. I understand that he is very young; his skill level is amazing considering his youth! But his interpretations of the songs he has performed are very bland, very vanilla. Simon was right a couple of weeks ago. He needs to spice it up. He needs to change two things: first, he would help himself by performing faster songs. Second, his meter is very straight forward. No flash, no zip. Of course he has a large fan base; he is being pimped by Idol to the ‘teeny boppers’. And that makes sense; he is a handsome kid with an apparently genuine humility. BUT…. that has never been enough to win Idol. You must be able to perform and make the stage and the song your own. Consider two seasons ago; Taylor beat McPhee. McPhee had the better pipes but Taylor had personality, flash, and a certain gravitas that had him owning the stage. I don’t know why you took my comments about David A so personally; I merely commented on the key weakness he demonstrates. For me, the best package is the singer who can personalize a song, hit the right notes, and entertain at the same time. THAT is the recipe for success.

I have no idea where u get your stats but so it goes. He will fill the Melinda slot. Thanks for calling me a 30 something but u missed by oh 20+ years. My 11 yr old thinks r2d2 is BORING…For her today, jason rules. She is angry that Amanda got kicked off. her opinion will change again but she has no respect for her DA loving friend’s taste (she still loves them though…)

I think it’s great that the opinions are as varied and numerous as the contestants. I don’t wish ill of any contestant but I am glad that Amanda is gone. She has her niche but I am not in it. Brooke is still my favorite.

I bet she makes it to the top six at least. I like her, but this week wasn’t a good week for her.
I was totally shocked to have seen Carly in the bottom three. She did NOT deserve that. Syesha, in my opinion, should have been there, along with Amanda. But I am glad that Amanda is GONE.
    My ears need a rest… :em26:

Carly was in the bottom three. Far from being the “best ” singer I would say. She is good, however, and I do like her.
Have you noticed that David A. has come in FIRST in every single poll on other sites that have polls ? I think that speaks for itself. I am not a tween or a teen, but yet I hear a good voice when I hear one. Performance means NOTHING to me, since I can’t watch a performance when I listen to a song on a CD or whatever. Taylor Hicks was a great performer, but clearly not the best singer that year. And his music has gone nowhere.
I do not like David Cook. Mainly because he is so full of himself, so it completely turns me off . And I am not the only one.
But everyone is entitled to their own opinions (without making fun of others). And everyone’s taste in music and singers is different. Which is a good thing !!

To me, Amanda was more fun than any other contestant, and I am amazed that she didn’t go farther.

It’s a very interesting thing I’ve always disliked about American Idol; the contestants that are most “stuck” in a certain style are always disfavored. It caters to a singer who can sing a variety of styles they will never ever again sing. Would we be singing Amanda’s praises right now if she had never done the show and just made a record??

But in general, Kristy can’t hold out much longer. Michael Johns is starting to walk on dangerous water. Ramielle needs to remind us why we loved her so much at first.

In terms of where Amanda’s fan will go, Considering how deeply rooted Amanda was in her southern rock style, I bet a lot of her fans will stop voting, no one is like her in this competition. What little that do could just about go anywhere.
